A 77-year-old Howell Township man is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle early Tuesday morning. Authorities say the vehicle-versus-pedestrian incident occurred near Route 9 and Strickland Road.

The driver was traveling southbound in the right lane of Route 9 when he struck the elderly man, who was transported to a local hospital with multiple injuries. Police say the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement. No charges have been issued at this time.

Following the accident, both lanes of Route 9 were closed for several hours for police investigation. No further updates have been announced, and the investigation remains ongoing.
