Former Monmouth University President, Grey J. Dimenna, died in a motorcycle crash in Hunterdon County. According to the New Jersey State Police, he was traveling south on Route 519 in Kingwood when he collided with a northbound pickup truck, Thursday, March 26, 2026.
Police said he was thrown from his Harley-Davidson and died at the scene. The truck driver suffered minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
Dimenna was Monmouth University’s ninth president from 2017 to 2019, after serving decades as the university’s vice president and general counsel. He also served on the board of directors of the university’s Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music.
Motorcycle crashes often result in serious or fatal injuries because riders lack the structural protection of passenger vehicles. Even with protective gear, impacts with larger vehicles can lead to ejection and severe trauma. Collisions involving opposing traffic are particularly dangerous, as the combined force of impact leaves little opportunity for riders to avoid injury.
